Kings come back falls short against TKU, Queens fall in the ACAC quarterfinals against the Huskies
October 26, 2023
The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens Soccer season has come to a close after suffering losses in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) quarterfinals. The Queens would strike first but would concede six straight goals against the Keyano College Huskies in their 6-1 loss. As for the Kings, they scored two goals in the late stages of the match but would fall 3-2 to The Kings University Eagles. See below for more information regarding each match.
Three RDP Soccer players awarded All-Conference honours

Red Deer Polytechnic and the Athletics Department are pleased to recognize centre-back Kayla Yeo (Open Studies), midfielder Ajdin Sarcevic (Business Administration) and striker Grant Johnson (Legal Assistant) as Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) All-Conference award recipients. Yeo moved into the centreback position this year after spending most of her ACAC career with the Queens as a fullback. Sarcevic was looked upon for leadership and his scoring abilities while Johnson was expected to bring pace to the pitch as the starting striker this season.
Queens clinch a playoff berth with a win, Neves played hero for the Kings

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens have joined their fellow Kings at the ACAC Championships at the end of the month as they secured the final playoff spot in the South Division with a 1-0 victory over the Ambrose University Lions. The Kings also finished their weekend and the regular season with a victory as they defeated the Lions 2-1. Please see below for more information on each match.
Kings clinch a playoff spot, Queens back in the win column

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings have now clinched a playoff spot with their draw against the Olds College Broncos this afternoon. The Queens were able to shut out the Broncos and get back into the win column which has increased their chances of punching their ticket to the ACAC Championship. Kings defeat the number two seed in the nation, Queens held scoreless against SAIT

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings managed to pick up a huge three points against the SAIT Trojans who are ranked number two in the nation. The winning goal was scored by winger Ashton Chipman in the 76th minute. On the other hand, the Queens were held scoreless and just had the one shot in their 5-0 loss to the Trojans. The Kings upset the Kodiaks for their biggest win of the season, Queens fall in defeat

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings swept the weekend with two consecutive victories after upsetting the Lethbridge College Kodiaks this afternoon. With this win and a Broncos loss, the Kings jump into a playoff spot. The Queens were not so lucky as they fell to the Kodiaks earlier in the day with a very shortened bench due to injuries that happened in yesterday's match against the Medicine Hat College Rattlers. The Kings step on the Rattlers with the Queens coming away with a draw

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings win big against the Medicine Hat College Rattlers and keep their playoff hopes alive. The Queens on the other hand scored first but after a late equalizer in the first half, the match ended in a draw. After the draw, the Queens sit in third place, three points ahead of the Rattlers. The men jump over Medicine Hat into fourth place with the victory and now sit tied with Olds for the final playoff spot in the South Division.
The Kings and Queens could not tame the Broncos in ACAC soccer action

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens Soccer team’s could not tame the Olds College Broncos as they both were defeated on Saturday afternoon With two goals a couple of minutes apart in the late stages of the second half, the Broncos defeated the Queens 2-0. The Kings fell 2-1 in a very tight contest with the Broncos. See details below from each match victory.
The Kings and Queens tame the Lions, the men pick up their first victory of the season

For the first time this season the Kings and Queens Soccer team’s sweep the day with victories as they both defeated the Ambrose University Lions in Red Deer on Saturday afternoon. The Queens defeated the Lions 5-0 with two goals from Quinn Daku and the Kings match was much closer with a 4-3 win against the team out of Calgary. See details below from each match victory.
The Kings and Queens dethroned in Calgary by the SAIT Trojans
September 17, 2023
Off the track, the Kings and Queens had an average week with the women’s soccer team defeating the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings but followed that up with a 4-1 loss to the SAIT Trojans on Sunday. The men in Calgary came out of the gate and paid the price as they were defeated 7-1. This was the only match on the Kings schedule for the weekend. However, on the track, the Polytechnic’s Cross Country team continued their great start to their season with two first-place finishes in Calgary on Saturday afternoon. Queens are victorious in Medicine Hat, Kings come away with a tie against the Rattlers

It was a much better day for the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens Soccer program as they were able to pick up four points out of a total of six with the Queens picking up their first victory of the season with a 2-1 final and the Kings coming away with a 1-1 tie against the Medicine Hat Rattlers. Kings and Queens Soccer both drop their season opener against the Kodiaks

It was a tough day for the Red Deer Polytechnic’s Soccer program as both the Kings and Queens fell in their season openers of the 2023/2024 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) season.
