Bio

RDC Athlete of the Week for Feb. 11, 2019

This past weekend, Regan Fathers had another all-star performance for the Kings Volleyball team (18-6), helping them down the previously undefeated Lethbridge College Kodiaks (20-2) in both road matches. His weekend statistics were unparalleled in the ACAC. In Friday’s five set victory (23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 23-25 and 15-9), the six-foot-six outside hitter was a dominant force from the right side, totaling 29 kills, 15 digs, two blocks, one assist and one ace while hitting for 44.7 per cent efficiency. For his outstanding effort, Regan earned the Kings Player-of-the-Game award. Then in Saturday’s victory (25-23, 22-25, 26-24 and 34-32), the student-athlete from East Fremantle, Western Australia stacked up 37 kills, 18 digs, one block, one ace and hit for 47.4 per cent efficiency. The talented player remarkably finished the weekend with 66 kills, 33 digs, three blocks, two aces and one assist, helping lead the Kings to an 8-2 record in their past ten matches.

In only 21 matches, the Kinesiology General student leads the league with 435 total kills and 5.37 kills per set. Incredibly, Regan has 98 more kills than Carter Hansen (338), of the Kodiaks, who has the second most in ACAC Men’s Volleyball.

Congratulations Regan!

RDC Athlete of the Week for Feb. 4, 2019

This past weekend, Regan was a force for the Kings Volleyball team (16-6). The six-foot-six outside hitter had 23 kills, five digs and three service aces while hitting for 48.6 per cent efficiency in Friday’s three set sweep over the SAIT Trojans (25-20, 25-19 and 25-21). The fifth-year’s contribution of 26 points helped him earn the Kings Player-of-the-Game award. Despite dropping a close five set decision on Saturday (20-25, 25-23, 25-22, 18-25 and 17-19), the talented student-athlete from East Fremantle, Western Australia, accumulated impressive numbers once again. Regan’s 21 kills led the Kings in Calgary, while adding three digs and two blocks.

The Kinesiology General student leads the league with 369 total kills and 5.13 kills per set. Regan will be a key player as the Kings prepare for the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Championship from February 21-23 and the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball National Championship from March 7-9 at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre, when the RDC Kings will be playing for their historic 14th national title.

Congratulations Regan!

RDC Athlete of the Week for Nov. 5, 2018

This past Friday and Saturday, Regan Fathers put up statistics on the court that are almost unheard of at any level of volleyball, let alone in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC). In a close five set outing (25-19, 23-25, 25-16, 28-30 and 13-15), the Kinesiology student impressively totaled 31 kills, 3 service aces, 5 digs and 2 block assists, while hitting for 50 per cent efficiency against the visiting Medicine Hat College Rattlers. In Saturday’s four set victory (23-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-14), the six-foot-six right side hitter elevated his game, accumulating 37 kills, 1 assist, 1 stuff block, 4 digs and 1 block assist, while increasing his hitting percentage (0.509) against the previously undefeated Rattlers. Regan’s contributions went well beyond statistics, displaying leadership and helping to sway momentum in favour of the Kings with his positive words and actions. He was deservedly selected the Kings Player-of-the-Game in both matches.

Congratulations Regan!
