Fathers and Kings dispatch of Lions in three sets

Calgary, AB - After achieving a 3-1 record at their Kings Christmas Volleyball Tournament against some of the top teams from across Canada, the RDC Kings used that momentum and swept the Ambrose University Lions in straight sets (25-22, 25-18 and 25-19) on the road.

Regan Fathers continued to be one of the Kings' offensive producers, leading the way with 12 kills. The six-foot-six right side hitter from East Fremantle, Western Australia added 5 digs, 1 assist and 1 stuff  block. Jonathan (JJ) Graham picked up 6 kills and 3 digs. Setter Thomas Wass totaled 24 assists, 8 digs and 1 service ace for RDC.

As a team, the Kings picked up a pair of service aces and four stuff blocks. 

Ambrose University setter Ryan Andres tried to connect with a variety of targets. Brodie Juul-Hansen and Adrian Strandberg stacked up 6 kills each. Brayden Nowosad chipped in with 5. Graeson Bergen and Harrison Rosewarn finished with 4 each. 

The victory was the Kings' sixth in a row, helping them sit in sole possession of third in the south with 18 points. The second place SAIT Trojans have played one extra match and have 20 points. 

The Red Deer College Kings (9-4) will host the Ambrose University Lions (2-11) on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
