Edmonton, AB – On Saturday evening, the RDC Queens were up against a sharp MacEwan University goaltender. Despite recording over 20 shots, the Queens couldn't solve Natalie Bender. The Griffins scored twice in the second period and added one in the third, picking up a 3-0 home win.

After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, the Griffins struck 5:21 into the middle frame. On the power play, Chantal Ricker tipped a point shot behind Queens goaltender Karlee Fetch. Over six minutes later Ricker recorded her second of the game off a wrap around.

The home team tacked on a third tally in the final stanza. With 5:22 remaining, Jessi Rampton received a cross-crease pass that was redirected into the open cage.

Mariah McKersie, a Bachelor of Arts Psychology student, was named the top player for the Queens. Rampton picked up the award for the Griffins.

Karlee Fetch made 41 saves (0.932). Natalie Bender turned aside 21 shots.

The second place Red Deer College Queens (14-5-2-0) will host the MacEwan University Griffins (20-3-0-0) on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 1:00 pm. Then two games remain in the regular season against the NAIT Ooks (12-9-1-0).
