Calgary, AB - Powered by a pair of goals from Mary Hirsch and three points from Neisha Germann, the Red Deer College Queens defeated the SAIT Trojans 4-3.

About midway through the first period, the Queens opened the scoring. Red Deer's Mary Hirsch beat Trojans goaltender Kaylin Schellenberg at 11:13. Mariah McKersie had the lone assist.

Minutes later the Trojans found the equalizer. Karys Woodward's shot eluded Karlee Fetch at 13:42. Then with time winding down, Neisha Germann gave the Queens a one goal edge.

The Queens' 2-1 lead held up for most of the second period. With 2:55 left, SAIT's Karmen Mooney evened the contest 2-2.

In the final frame, the RDC Queens connected early. Neisha Germann and Camryn Wallan set up Tyra Anderson for the Queens' third tally.

RDC kept pushing. At 16:18, Mary Hirsch, a Bachelor of Science Nursing student, scored her second of the game. Neisha Germann and Tyra Anderson recorded the helpers.

Just 34 seconds after Hirsch's goal, SAIT narrowed the gap. Davina McLeod found open cage, pulling the Trojans within one. Karlee Fetch shut the door and the Queens wrapped up a 4-3 road win.

RDC outshot SAIT 34-20.

Both penalty kills were perfect. The Queens went zero-for-four with the extra skater. The Trojans couldn't capitalize on two opportunities.

RDC's Mary Hirsch and SAIT's Davina McLeod were recognized as the top players on their respective teams.

The victory also pushed the Queens' record to 4-0 and helped them maintain second spot in the standings.

Next weekend, the RDC Queens (4-0) will challenge the first place MacEwan University Griffins (6-0) in a pair of games. On Friday, November 1, the Queens will host the Griffins at 7:00 p.m. at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
