Bio

Fas Gas RDP Athlete of the Week for October 17, 2022

For the second week in a row Sein Furuyama is named the Queens Player of the Week. After scoring her 26th and 27th goal of the year against the Medicine Hat College Rattlers, she broke the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference (ACAC) Single Season Goal Record.

On Saturday afternoon in Raymond, Furuyama was left off the scoresheet against the Lethbridge College Kodiaks but still played 90 minutes and contributed to the offence with two shots.

It only took 16 minutes on Sunday against the Rattlers for Furuyama to tie the ACAC record. In the second half at the 68th minute history was made. Captain Alisha Coules sent in a pass to Furuyama and she put it in the back of the net for the historic 27th goal. She can extend her record this week when the Queens battle with the Olds College Broncos at home at 12 pm.

Congratulations to Furuyama on the ACAC Record as well as the Player of the Week!

Fas Gas RDP Athlete of the Week for October 11, 2022

First-year forward Sein Furuyama kept scoring this past weekend with six goals, giving her a total of 25 goals on the year in her rookie campaign. She is now two goals away from breaking the single season goal scoring record in Alberta Colleges Athletic Association (ACAC) Women's Soccer.

It didn’t take long for the Academic Upgrading student to score her first of the match on October 7 against the Ambrose Lions with a goal in the second minute. She completed the hat trick before the 45th minute and added three more goals in the second half to help the Queens finish off a 16-0 victory against the Lions.

Against the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings, Furuyama was kept off the scoresheet, however, she still contributed to the offence with three shots on goals in the Queens 7-0 victory on October 8.

Congratulations!

Sein Furuyama was outstanding for the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Soccer team (4-1-0) this past weekend. The talented first-year striker scored eight goals and added two assists in a pair of home victories. With the wins, the RDP Queens moved into second place in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women’s Soccer South Division.

In Saturday’s 14-1 decision over the Medicine Hat College Rattlers, the Academic Upgrading student from Japan recorded six goals and two assists and was named the North Star Sports Queens Player of the Game. Then in Sunday’s important 5-1 victory over the Lethbridge College Kodiaks, Sein powered the Queens with two goals. She leads ACAC Women’s Soccer with 16 goals.

Congratulations!
