Saturday in Calgary, the Red Deer College Queens Hockey team faced the SAIT Trojans in their final regular season game. Tracie Kikuchi started in net for the Queens while Emma Greenwood suited up in goal for the Trojans. After SAIT got up 3-0,  RDC tried to rally in the 3rd period but time expired and the SAIT Trojans picked up a 3-1 home win.

At 4:48 of the 1st period, Taylor Beck gave the SAIT Trojans a 1-0 lead. The Queens had an 11-10 shot advantage over 20 minutes.

Taylor Beck scored her 2nd goal of the game to give the Trojans a 2-0 lead at 1:31 of the 2nd period. With 4 seconds remaining, Madison Casavant put SAIT up 3-0. The Trojans outshot the Queens 12-3 in the middle frame.

In the 3rd period, Julia Murrell found the back of the net to put the RDC Queens on the board (3-1) at 14:19. Morgan Fraser and Jessica Anderson picked up the assists. The Queens couldn't close the gap any closer. Time ran out and the SAIT Trojans picked up a 3-1 home win. The Trojans oushot the Queens 12-10 in the 3rd period and 34-24 over 60 minutes of hockey.

Queens Hockey Head Coach Kelly Coulter appreciated the strong play of his goaltender but saw some missed opportunities.

"Tracie Kikuchi was strong in net tonight," said Coulter. "The story of the game is that they capitalized on their chances and we didn't."

The RDC Queens went 0-for-2 on the power play but also killed off all 6 of SAIT's opportunites with the extra skater.

The Red Deer College Queens' regular season is now complete. The Queens have secured a spot in the playoffs but the positioning of the teams and matchups can change. The 4 other ACAC Women's Hockey teams have 2 regular season games remaining.
