The Red Deer College Queens Hockey team have been on a roll lately, winners of 5 in a row. Saturday, the Queens faced the MacEwan University Griffins on the road and their winning streak continued shutting-out the Griffins 2-0.

Tracie Kikuchi was the starting goaltender for the RDC Queens while Sandy Heim was in net for the Griffins.

MacEwan University tested Kikuchi 13 times in the opening period while the Queens fired 7 shots at Heim. Both goalies couldn't be beat in the first period.

The Queens had 16 third period shots for a game total of 32. MacEwan University had 7 more shots on the RDC net for a three period total of 31, but Kikuchi was perfect earning the shut-out.

Queens Head Coach Kelly Coulter was pleased with the play of the Kinesiology and Sport Studies student in net.

"Tracie was very good in goal for us tonight," said Coulter.

Despite the win Coulter wants to improve in a few areas.

"We want to continue working on our defending and our defensive zone exits," said Coulter. "Moving forward we also want to work on putting more shots on net."

The Queens sit in second place in ACAC Women's Hockey with a record of 6-2. Currently NAIT sits on top with a 7-1 record and the two teams face each other in Edmonton Saturday, Nov. 12 at 6:00 p.m.
