Lethbridge, AB - Second-year Valentina Rincon was effective on both sides of the ball. The RDC Business Administration student dropped 16 points and seven defensive rebounds as the Red Deer College Queens handed the Lethbridge College Kodiaks a 76-67 loss.
An explosive 25 point second quarter had the Queens leading 39-29 at the half. The home team held a slight 38-37 margin in the latter two quarters, but it wasn't enough. RDC earned an important victory by a nine point margin.
Four RDC student-athletes hit double-digits. Along with Rincon's 16 points, Britney Peters sank 18, Sandra Garcia-Bernal totaled 13 and Harneet Sidhu added 11.

Coming off the bench, Valentina Rincon was a key contributor in 25 minutes and earned the Queens Player-of-the Game. She was efficient, connecting on four-of-six from beyond the three-point arc. Her eight total rebounds tied teammate Britney Peters for the team high.
Millay Johnson led Lethbridge College with 22 points and was recognized as the Kodiaks top player. Kirsten Barwegen added 13 points.
The Queens shot well as a group. They hit 50 per cent of their three-point attempts and 47.5 per cent from the field.
The Kodiaks countered with 29 and 33.8 per cent respectively.
RDC had a seven rebound edge (41-34).
On Saturday, Jan. 25, the RDC Queens (5-7) and third place Kodiaks (8-6) will clash at 1:00 pm.
