Olds, AB – On Saturday evening, the Basketball Queens had the tall task of facing the defending national champions, the Olds College Broncos.

The Broncos entered the game ranked second in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), only behind the Vancouver Island University (VIU) Mariners. After a hot start, the home team led 58-28 at the half. Despite the Queens taking the third quarter (25-24), it was too large of a deficit to claw back. The Broncos wrapped up a 100-64 home decision.

The Thibeaux sisters, Brandi (33 points) and Brittney (21), scored over half of Olds College's points.

St. Albert's Lauren Cardinal led the RDC charge, totaling 18 points, four rebounds, and one assist in 29 minutes played. The Bachelor of Kinesiology student went two-for-three from beyond the arc and 100 per cent from the free-throw line.

Sophie Melin and Harneet Sidhu contributed 13 points each. Fort St. John's Britney Peters had eight rebounds, including six on the defensive end.
