Briercrest College Clippers capture home decision over RDP Kings

Caronport, SK - The Briercrest College Clippers relied heavily on Karym Coleman and the six-foot-five outside hitter delivered.

Belize's Coleman had a match high 31 kills and the home team took a four set decision over the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings (19-25, 34-32, 25-19 and 25-18).

The visitors were down to nine student-athletes. Setter Maddux Greves was unavailable. Kings outside hitter Reece Lehman was back in the lineup and contributed nine kills, three digs and a block. 

Lower (5)

Kings Player of the Game Brett Lower contributed 12 kills (0.357 hitting percentage), eight digs, three of his team's six aces, and an assist.

Possingham (6)

South Australia's Nicholas Possingham recorded seven kills (0.312), six digs and one of the team's six blocks. Cody Boulding, a Bachelor of Kinesiology student (four kills), and Dillon Gauci (four kills) contributed from the middle. Libero Jonathan (JJ) Graham recorded 10 digs and four assists. 

Along with 31 kills (0.523 hitting percentage), Clippers Player of the Game Coleman added four digs, three blocks and one of his squad's five aces. Davis Borden was second in kills for Briercrest with 10.

Setter Jeremy Martens accumulated 51 assists. 

The first place Red Deer Polytechnic Kings (10-4) will host the Ambrose University Lions (2-12) on Thursday, February 10 at 8 pm. Then one conference match remains against the Kodiaks before the playoffs.

The start of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men's Volleyball playoffs have been pushed back to March 4 to align with new dates for the national championship. The final four ACAC teams will compete on March 11 and 12.

The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men's Volleyball National Championship will be held from March 24 to 27 in Quebec, Quebec. Cegep Limilou will host the event at Limoilou's Sports Complex.
