SAIT Trojans get by Red Deer Polytechnic Kings

Calgary, AB - With the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings still down a few starters, the SAIT Trojans picked up a three set win (25-23, 25-19 and 25-20).

Kings middle Cody Boulding was back into the lineup. The six-foot-five middle from Prince George accumulated three kills, one assist and a dig.

Setter Maddux Greves and outside hitter Reece Lehman were unavailable to play for the Polytechnic.

Swift Current's Brett Theise received another start in the setter position. The Business Administration General Management student totaled 10 assists, four digs, two blocks and a kill. 

Red Deer's Brett Lower received the Kings Player of the Game award. The first-year Bachelor of Science Nursing student stacked up nine kills, six digs, three assists, one ace and a block.

Rookies Dante Furlan (11 kills) and Nicholas Possingham (five kills) added to the Kings' offence. 

Middle Dillon Gauci had four kills and two of the visitors' four aces. Libero Jonathan (JJ) Graham contributed eights digs.

Jeffrey Carreos picked up the top player honour for the Trojans with a sound defensive performance (four digs). Ryan Zachary and Mitchell Newman led the way offensively with 11 kills apiece. 

The first place Red Deer Polytechnic Kings (10-3) will challenge the second seed Briercest College Clippers (8-2) in Saskatchewan on Saturday, February 5 at 4 pm.

After that contest, the Kings have two conference matches before the postseason.
