Trojans edge Kings in five, Greves exits with injury

Calgary, AB – The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings found themselves down on a couple of fronts Saturday evening.

Setter Maddux Greves, who has been a key contributor for the Polytechnic, left the match with an injury on the opening play. Second-year Brett Theise took over.

The SAIT Trojans also put the RDP Kings into a two set deficit (25-21 and 25-22) to begin the match.

As the Kings' blocking ramped up and their offence got into a rhythm, the visitors gained momentum, winning the next two sets (27-25 and 25-23). But a full comeback didn't come to fruition. The SAIT Trojans took the fifth set 15-11 and ultimately the match.

Fifth-year outside hitter Patrik Toze powered RDP with 18 kills (0.361%). Red Deer's Reece Lehman added nine. Brett Lower and Dillon Gauci contributed seven kills apiece.
