Red Deer Polytechnic Kings down Kodiaks in four sets

Lethbridge, AB - The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Lethbridge College Kodiaks have been involved in some good battles over the past few years. 

The Kings faced the Kodiaks in the 2019/2020 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) gold medal match, with the RDP Kings winning in four sets.

On Friday night, the Kings dropped the Kodiaks by the same margin (20-25, 25-21, 25-19, and 25-22) to begin the new season. 

Setter Maddux Greves, who was named the Kings Player of the Game, accumulated 44 assists and eight digs. The fourth-year connected with Patrik Toze on the outside for 16 kills.

Toze added a pair of service aces, seven digs, and one stuff block. 

First-year Red Deer Polytechnic outside hitter Brett Lower stacked up 11 kills and eight digs in his ACAC regular season debut.

Reece Lehman recorded seven kills for the Kings. 

Jackson Gaehring led the Kodiaks offence with 10 kills. Cameron Piers, the Kodiaks Player of the Game, had four kills, two stuff blocks, one assist, and one ace.

The RDP Kings had 10 service aces. The Kodiaks picked up five.

On Sunday, November 14, the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings (1-0) will host the Lethbridge College Kodiaks (0-1) at 3 pm in a rematch.
