Wass and Kings control Broncos in four sets

Olds, AB - Thomas Wass was a difference maker Saturday evening in Olds. The third-year Kings setter recorded 39 assists and ran an effective offence as RDC wrapped up a four set road win over the Broncos (25-14, 25-19, 23-25 and 25-19).

Wass, who was named the Kings top player, connected with Carter Hills for a game-high 15 kills. Shae McIntyre pounded ten kills. Dillon Gauci, Mark DeWit and Patrik Toze had five each. Edmonton's Zak Hallworth contributed eight digs. 

Hills (4) had a 0.419 hitting percentage

Broncos Player-of-the Game River Thomas totaled seven kills. 

Patrik Toze, a Bachelor of Kinesiology student, fired two of the Kings' eight service aces. The Broncos had one.

The Red Deer College Kings (16-4) have won their past six matches and currently share second in the south with the SAIT Trojans (16-6). The Kings also have two games in hand. Lethbridge College (17-3) leads the division with 34 points, only two up on RDC and SAIT. The Kodiaks, Trojans, Kings and Clippers have all qualified for the postseason, although the seeding can change.

On Friday, Feb. 14, the Kings will host the fourth place Briercrest College Clippers (14-6) at 8:00 pm.
