Clippers down Kings in afternoon match

Caronport, SK - Led by the Javier Alvarez's four stuff blocks and six digs, the Briercrest College Clippers downed the RDC Kings in three sets (27-25, 25-20 and 25-20).

RDC middles Dillon Gauci and Mark DeWit led with way offensively with seven kills each. Kings outside hitter Patrik Toze recorded six and Carter Hills finished with five. Setter Thomas Wass contributed 23 assists, seven digs, two kills and two stuff blocks.

Dillon Gauci was recognized as the Kings Player-of-the-Game. The first-year Open Studies student added two aces and one assist to his seven kills. Javier Alvarez was selected for the Clippers.

Briercrest College had nine service aces and RDC picked up five.

Next weekend, the Red Deer College Kings (1-1) will play the Ambrose University Lions (1-2) in a home-and-home series. On Friday, the two squads will meet in Calgary at 8:00 p.m. Then on Saturday, the Kings will play their home opener against the Lions at 8:00 p.m.
