The Queens and Mixed Curling teams go undefeated with the Kings winning four out of five at the Fall Regional

Lloydminster, SK, November 26, 2023 - It was a great start to the season for the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings, Queens and Mixed Curling teams. The men were able to go 4-1 and sit tied for first place in a very competitive division. The Kings were able to defeat the University of Alberta-Augustana Vikings (10-6), the NAIT Ooks (10-5), the SAIT Trojans (8-3) and the Concordia University Thunder (6-3). The Kings one loss came against the Lakeland College Rustlers with RDP falling 8-3.

The Queens were able to go undefeated to start the season with a 6-0 record which includes a 6-3 victory over the Vikings, who are the reigning national champions. The other wins came against the Ooks (9-1), the Rustlers (11-2), the Trojans (7-2), the Thunder (8-7) and the Portage College Voyageurs (7-0).

The Mixed team was also able to come away undefeated and sit in first place in their division with a 6-0 record which includes a 9-1 win over the Rustlers, who were the 2022/2023 ACAC Champions. The other victories came against the Trojans (9-0), the Thunder (9-3, 1-0), and the Ooks (7-4, 10-3).

Head Coach Brad Hamilton said he was quite impressed with how the three teams performed this weekend.

"All three teams played well from lead to skip and formed some good team dynamics that will help going forward."

The next bonspiel the Polytechnic will compete in is the Winter Regional that will be hosted by the Ooks from January 19-21 at the Avonair Curling Club in Edmonton.
