Caronport, SK - Red Deer's Emma Holmes was one of the offensive sparks Friday evening in the Queens' season opener, but it wasn't quite enough to overtake the 2018-19 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) silver medal winning Briercrest College Clippers.

The Clippers led after two sets (26-24 and 25-20), but the Queens didn't relent. RDC took the next set 25-20 and then Rebecca Garner and the Clippers dug in, wrapping up the match in four sets (25-13).

Queens outside hitter Emma Holmes led her squad with nine kills and the second-year student-athlete added four of the team's six service aces. Erin Neufeldt had seven kills and Alexandria Greenshields chipped in with five.
