RDC Athlete of the Week for Oct. 9, 2018

Troy Trombley was a key member of the Hockey Kings this past weekend, helping them earn back-to-back wins against the NAIT Ooks. In Friday’s 6 - 2 home victory, the talented goaltender turned aside 21 out of 23 shots (0.913) and made some key saves especially while killing an Ooks’ two-man advantage. Then in Saturday’s 3 - 2 road win, the third-year student-athlete made another 29 saves (0.935) to help the Kings pick up an important four points in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men’s Hockey standings in the opening weekend. Over the two games, Trombley made 50 saves and finished with a 0.926 save percentage, helping the Red Deer College Kings vault into an early shared lead for top spot in the league.

RDC Athlete of the Week for Feb. 26, 2018

Troy Trombley played a key role in helping the Red Deer College Kings earn four out of a possible four points in the standings against the first place NAIT Ooks this past weekend. In Friday’s 4-1 home victory, the second-year student-athlete made 23 saves out of 24 shots (0.958) and was named the player-of-the-game against the highest scoring team in the league. The Kings defeated the Ooks 3-2 in double overtime on Saturday and the goaltender from Sherwood Park turned aside 24 shots on 26 attempts (0.923). Trombley made some big saves over the two games and was a crucial component in the Kings’ weekend success.

RDC Athlete of the Week for Oct. 23, 2017

Goaltender Troy Trombley had a fantastic weekend for the RDC Kings Hockey team in Saskatchewan. This past Friday, Trombley made 21 saves and helped the Kings earn a 6-1 victory over the Briercrest College Clippers. Trombley continued to play well on Saturday afternoon and made 29 saves in a 9-1 win. Over the two games, the goalie from Sherwood Park stopped 50 out of 52 shots for an incredible 0.962 save percentage and a stingy 1.00 goals against average. The second-year student-athlete played a major role in helping the RDC Kings earn four of a possible four points in the standings.

RDC Athlete of the Week for Nov. 7, 2016

Troy Trombley helped lead his Kings Hockey team to a pair of weekend victories. Friday, in Lac La Biche the Kings defeated the Voyageurs 4-0. Troy stopped 33 shots for the shut-out. At the Penhold Multiplex on Saturday, Troy stopped 31-of-32 shots to help his Kings skate to an 8-1 victory. Over the pair of games, Troy stopped 64-of-65 shots which was incredibly 98.5%.
