RDC Athlete of the Week for Nov. 20, 2017

This past weekend, Tanner Butler, the captain of the RDC Kings Hockey team, played extremely well offensively and defensively over two games, and helped the Kings defeat the Portage College Voyageurs twice. On Friday, the smooth-skating defenceman scored a goal and assisted on the winner in the Kings’ 3-2 victory. Saturday afternoon, the fourth-year student-athlete scored on the power play and added two assists in a convincing 8-1 win. The defender from Souris, Manitoba, led by example and helped the Kings earn four of a possible four points in the standings. Butler leads Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men’s Hockey with 12 assists and shares the lead for most points (19). While it’s a great feat to own such statistics, it makes it more impressive that Butler takes care of the defensive end and has put up amazing statistics from the blueline.

RDC Athlete of the Week for Feb. 13, 2017

Often in sports the offensive players get most of the credit, but defenceman Tanner Butler had a great weekend on the ice for the RDC Kings Hockey team. He provided leadership, played well defensively, helped lead the power play and scored a goal. The Kings picked up 4-of-4 points in the standings and Tanner played a large role. Friday, the RDC Kings defeated the Portage College Voyageurs 4-2 and Saturday the Kings won 6-2. Saturday, he helped quarterback the power play to a 2-for-3 success rate and Tanner scored 1 goal with the man advantage.
