Friday evening, the Red Deer College Kings Hockey team faced the Briercrest College Clippers in Saskatchewan. After the Clippers opened the scoring, RDC remained persistent and tied the game in the first period. The Kings went up 2-1 over 40 minutes and scored 4 unanswered goals in the third period to earn a 6-1 road victory.

Troy Trombley got the nod in net for the Kings while Dan Dekoning was the starting goaltender for the Clippers in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men's Hockey conference action.

After Troy Hermanson of the Clippers opened the scoring, the Kings scored 6 straight goals and picked up the win. Tanner Butler, Mike Statchuk, Chase Thudium, Tyler Podgorenko, Jacob Wozney and Jason Miller found the back of the net for the RDC Kings.

Kings Hockey Head Coach Trevor Keeper was pleased with the effort and saw several RDC student-athletes rewarded for their hard work. "After two periods we were leading 2-1 and in the third period we made some adjustments, and the guys really poured it on. We went 3-for-6 on the power play and also scored shorthanded," said Keeper. "Troy Trombley was very good in net. He was calm and confident, which carried over to the players in front of him. Tanner Butler had another great game with 2 points, and as the captain, he is leading the way. Four rookies scored their first ACAC goal tonight - Chase Thudium, Jacob Wozney, Jason Miller and Tyler Podgorenko. They were each presented with a puck after the game."

In a rematch, the RDC Kings (3-2-0-0) will face-off against the Briercrest College Clippers (1-3-0-1) on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Saskatchewan.
