Holmes and Queens sweep Kodiaks in Lethbridge

Lethbridge, AB - On the strength of 13 kills from Emma Holmes, the Red Deer College Queens rolled over the Lethbridge College Kodiaks in straight sets (25-21, 27-25 and 25-17), earning their 14th victory in their past 17 matches. 

Along with her total kills hitting double-digits, Holmes, a Bachelor of Kinesiology student, added 11 digs and one ace for RDC, capturing the Queens Player-of-the Game award.

For the RDC Queens, Erin Neufeldt contributed 10 kills and Alexandria Greenshields added 8. Setter Natalie Bloemen totaled 39 assists, three digs and two kills. 

As a group, the Queens had three service aces and seven stuff blocks. The Kodiaks responded with one ace and eight stuffs.

Brooke Ringuette was named the Kodiaks Player-of-the-Game, recording 10 kills and 12 digs. 

In their final regular season match, the second place Red Deer College Queens (15-8) will challenge the Lethbridge College Kodiaks (3-18) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. 

The Ambrose University Lions will host the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women's Volleyball Championship from February 21 to 23 in Calgary.
