Bio
Coach Cunningham returns as an important part of the Queens program in 2024-25. Her contributions in practice and games has been invaluable. As a Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Alumni, All Canadian (1991), co-athlete of the year (1991-92), and now an Assistant Coach, Nadine is excited to give back to the program that was so good to her. In her three years at Red Deer College (1989-92), she was selected to the ACAC first All star team (1990-91, 1991-92), and second team ((1989-90). During the 1991-92 season the Queens won the ACAC Championship and placed third at the National Championships. She continued to play at the University of Alberta (1994-95) but experienced a knee injury that sidelined her part way through the year. Nadine grew up in Bashaw and appreciated the opportunity to play multiple sports. During that time she played for team Alberta (1987-88 and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta. ) Over the past 25 years, as a keen promoter of sport in Central Alberta, Nadine has coached numerous basketball teams (High School, Summer Games, Club Programs) while raising three kids who also greatly enjoy sports. She believes and invests in players who want to make everyone around them better, not just on the court, but in life.
“Nadine has been an immeasurable part of our success as a program over the last two years,” said Head Coach Avery Harrison. “Her experience and knowledge of the game and her attention to detail has helped take our team to new heights not just in th ACAC, but on the National stage where we all strive to be. I am thrilled to continue working with such an outstanding coach. She never gets enough credit for all she does, but I call her our secret weapon.”
