Red Deer, AB – An offensive surge from the Olds College Broncos in the second half was the difference in Friday's game against the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens.

The Broncos knocked down 42 points and limited the Queens' offence to 25 points in the latter half, solidifying a 67-57 road win. 

The Queens started well and held a seven point (32-25) edge at the half.

Red Deer Polytechnic first-year forward Lauren France had 11 points at the break. Dani Earl came off the Broncos' bench and scored six points.

The visitors reduced the deficit to three points after three quarters (47-50) with an offensive push of 22 points. Olds College added another 20 points in the fourth quarter and picked up the decision.

Lauren France was named the North Star Sports Queens Player of the Game. The Red Deer Polytechnic Bachelor of Arts Psychology student totaled 23 points, four rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist. She hit seven-of-17 from beyond the arc.

Stockholm's Sophie Melin and Red Deer's Keanna Richards accumulated eight points each for the Queens.

Mackenzie Hooson received the top player award for the Broncos, finishing with 14 points, eight rebounds and two assists over 26 minutes. Amelia Furst recorded a double-double (10 points and 10 rebounds). Dani Earl and Haylee-Jo Heggie had nine points each for Olds College.

The Broncos were 38.2 per cent successful on their field goal attempts. The Queens sank 25 per cent of their shots form the field.

Olds College finished with four more rebounds (57-53).

The Queens (1-2) and Broncos (1-2) will face each other in a rematch on Saturday, November 20 at 8 pm in Olds.
