King leads second half charge as RDP drops Olds College

Olds, AB - Once the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings got rolling against the Olds College Broncos, they couldn't be stopped. 

Trailing 48-35 at the half, the Kings knocked down 55 points in the latter two quarters and defeated the Broncos 90-85.

Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) leading scorer Tyronn King (25.7 points per game) had a game high 40 points. He added eight rebounds, four assists and one steal, while connecting on nine-of-nine free throws over 37 minutes. For his outstanding performance, King was named the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Player of the Game.

Eduardo Crespo contributed 20 points and nine rebounds.

Baltzer (8)

Payton Baltzer accumulated 10 points and eight of RDP's 39 rebounds.

Broncos Player of the Game Nathan Calkins had 17 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists. Adrian Deere powered the home team's offence with 28 points. Nick McKee recorded eight of Olds College's 36 rebounds. 

The RDP Kings shot 43.2 per cent from the field, 25.8 per cent from three-point range and 78.3 per cent from the free throw line. 

The Olds College Broncos were 47.1, 48.1 and 53.3 per cent successful. 

The Kings were without Antonio Benjamin

The third place Red Deer Polytechnic Kings (8-5) will challenge the fourth seed St. Mary's University Lightning (7-7) on Saturday, February 19 at 8 pm in Calgary. 

The Kings have already qualified for the postseason. They have two regular season games left in the regular season against the Ambrose University Lions.
