RDP Athletics Update (October 14, 2025)
This week, the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens Basketball and Volleyball teams, along with the Kings Hockey team, will play their season openers. The RDP Queens Hockey team will face-off against the SAIT Trojans twice. Both Red Deer Polytechnic Soccer squads will host the Olds College Broncos at Setters Place in Red Deer. The Rodeo team will compete in Vermilion.
Minor Sports Day will be held on Saturday, October 18 when the region's minor sports athletes (aged 18 and under) can attend the Kings and Queens' home games for free. These athletes are encouraged to wear their jerseys.

Basketball
Queens vs. NAIT | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, October 17 | 6 pm
The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Basketball team will begin the 2025-26 campaign against the NAIT Ooks at home.

Queens vs. U of A Augustana | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, October 18 | 6 pm
The RDP Queens will host the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings in their second game of the season.
Kings vs. NAIT | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, October 17 | 8 pm
The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings Basketball team will play the NAIT Ooks at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

The RDP Kings will tip-off against the Vikings at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
Hockey
Queens at SAIT Trojans | Friday, October 17 | 6:45 pm
The RDP Queens Hockey team (2-1) will face-off against the SAIT Trojans (0-2) on the road.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens will battle against the SAIT Trojans at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
Kings vs Clippers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, October 17 | 7 pm
In a rematch of last season's Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Championship, the RDP Kings Hockey team will host the Briercrest College Clippers.
"We are really excited for the opportunity to host the Clippers for a couple of games," says Cody Reynolds, Head Coach of the Kings Hockey team. "We expect that Briercrest will want retribution from last year. Our goal is to set the tone, have a good weekend and carry that throughout the season."

The Kings and Clippers will complete their two-game set in Red Deer.
Soccer
Queens vs Olds College | Setters Place in Red Deer | Sunday, October 19 | 12 pm
The second place Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Soccer team (8-3-0) will play the seventh seed Olds College Broncos (0-9-1) in Red Deer. Jana Leskewich, a second-year goalkeeper on the Queens, leads the league with a 0.17 goals against average.
Kings vs Olds College | Setters Place | Sunday, October 19 | 2:15 pm
The fifth place RDP Kings Soccer team (1-5-3) will welcome the sixth seed Olds College Broncos (0-8-1) to Setters Place in Red Deer. The Kings have received goals from four different student-athletes: Liam Parsons, Ajdin Sarcevic, Njegos Bajovic and Mikito Funase.
Volleyball
Queens at NAIT Ooks | Friday, October 17 | 6 pm
The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Volleyball team will challenge the NAIT Ooks in Edmonton to start the 2025-26 season.
"The goal is to always put ourselves in a position to compete for a championship," says Talbot Walton, Head Coach of the RDP Queens Volleyball team. "While some key leaders graduated the past couple of years, we have student-athletes who are ready to step into leadership roles.
Queens at University of Alberta Augustana | Saturday, October 18 | 6 pm
The Queens will test their skills against the U of A Augustana Vikings in Camrose.
Kings at NAIT Ooks | Friday, October 17 | 8 pm
The RDP Kings Volleyball team, which is the defending ACAC and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) champion, will play the NAIT Ooks on the road.
Kings at U of A Augustana | Saturday, October 18 | 8 pm
The Kings will play the Vikings in Camrose.
Rodeo
Kings and Queens | Lakeland College Fall Classic | October 18-19
The Red Deer Polytechnic Rodeo team will compete in Vermilion, Alberta.
