All three RDP Curling teams earn medals at the ACAC Championships

As the final rocks settled at the Pidherney Centre, the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Champions were crowned on Sunday in Red Deer. The RDP Queens won the ACAC Women's Curling Championship. The Kings and Mixed Curling teams earned silver medals.
The SAIT Trojans Men's team and Concordia University Thunder Mixed Curling team solidified ACAC gold medals.
The three-day championships hosted by Red Deer Polytechnic featured top-tier post-secondary curling that entertained fans from across Alberta.
The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens won ACAC gold on their home ice after downing the Concordia University Thunder 5-2 in the final. The SAIT Trojans defeated the Lakeland College Rustlers 10-3 for bronze.
The SAIT Trojans Men's team edged the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings 7-6 to seal gold. The NAIT Ooks Men's team earned bronze with a 7-1 result over the Lakeland College Rustlers.
The Concordia University Thunder Mixed Curling team earned ACAC gold, defeating the RDP squad 6-5. The SAIT Trojans Mixed Curling team picked up a 7-1 decision over the Lakeland College Rustlers for bronze.
The top four teams in each division (Women's, Men's and Mixed) qualified for the ACAC Curling Championships, using the combined the results from both the Fall and Winter Regionals earlier in the year.
In addition to teams earning medals, several individuals were recognized for their impactful contributions to their respective squads and the sport of curling:

Randi Cameron – University of Alberta Augustana Vikings
A key contributor to the Vikings Women's Curling team, Cameron played a pivotal role in their success throughout the season.
ACAC Curling Coach of the Year
Brad Hamilton – Red Deer Polytechnic
Hamilton, who has been the RDP Curling Head Coach since 2010, has also been named the ACAC Curling Coach of the Year in 2016, 2019 and 2022.

Selections were made by ACAC Coaches through a ranking system, taking into account factors such as statistical performance, impact on team success, skill level and consistency throughout the season.

The RDP Kings and Queens will now shift their focus to the 2025 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA)/Curling Canada College Championships held February 24-28 at Lethbridge Curling Club. The Mixed Curling teams don't compete at nationals.
