RDP Coach Hamilton named ACAC Curling Coach of the Year

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Brad Hamilton, Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Curling Coach, as the ACAC Curling Coach of the Year.
"I want to congratulate Brad on receiving this well-deserved ACAC recognition," says Randy Stewart, Manager, Athletics and Student Life at Red Deer Polytechnic. "In collaboration with assistant coaches Eldon Raab, Andrew Jones and Jaycee Bourke, Brad consistently recruits competitive Kings, Queens and Mixed Curling teams that seek excellence in the classroom, during competition and as ambassadors in the community."
Through Hamilton's leadership, all three RDP Curling teams ranked among the top squads at the 2024/2025 ACAC Curling Fall and Winter Regionals, qualifying for playoffs. After both regionals, the Kings (6-2) sat second in the Men's Division. The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (8-2) finished in a tie for first with the SAIT Trojans (8-2). The RDP Mixed Curling team (5-3) placed second in its division.
Hamilton, who has been the RDP Curling Head Coach since 2010, has also been named the ACAC Curling Coach of the Year in 2016, 2019 and 2022. During his tenure as head coach, he has guided the Kings to four ACAC Championships and the Queens to one ACAC gold medal. In addition, the RDP Kings won Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) silver in 2012 and bronze in 2017. The Queens won the CCAA Women's Curling National Championship in 2014 and 2017 and CCAA bronze in 2020.
The RDP Kings, Queens and Mixed Curling teams will compete at the ACAC Curling Championships on their home ice from February 7-9, 2025.
This distinguished award was recognized at the 2025 ACAC Curling All-Conference Awards Banquet held at the Pidherney Curling Centre in Red Deer on February 7.
