RDP Athletics Recap

This past weekend, the Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Kings and Queens Soccer teams were the lone teams in regular season action as they battled the Medicine Hat College Rattlers and Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks down south.

Red Deer Polytechnic Queens at Medicine Hat College Rattlers | Saturday, September 14
The RDP Queens earned a commanding 8-2 victory over the Rattlers in Medicine Hat this past Saturday. First-year McKenna Leslie (Bachelor of Education) was awarded the Queens Player of the Match with three goals and two assists. Her teammate Alisha Coules, a fifth-year striker, finished the game with one goal and one assist.
Queens at Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks | Sunday, September 15
On Sunday, the RDP Queens continued their winning ways with a 2-1 victory over the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks. Midfielder Olivia Lundell (Open Studies) was named the Queens Player of the Match, contributing a goal in the 16th minute. Coules (Open Studies) added a tally in the 60th minute. The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens are in second place in the South Division with a 3-1-0 record.
RDP Kings at Medicine Hat College Rattlers | Saturday, September 14
The Kings left Medicine Hat with their first victory of the season, earning a 3-2 decision. Strikers Ajdin Sarcevic (Business Administration) and Grant Johnson (Open Studies) scored two minutes apart in the first half for the RDP Kings. Johnson added his second goal of the game in the 57th minute which ultimately was the game-winner. Johnson, a third-year Open Studies student, was named the RDP Kings Player of the Match.
Kings at Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks | Sunday, September 15
Sarcevic scored his team-leading third goal of the season in a 2-2 tie against the Kodiaks. Jaxon Fernandes (Open Studies) recorded the Polytechnic's second goal. Centreback Njegos Bajovic (Open Studies) was named the Kings Player of the Game after a strong performance. The RDP Kings (1-1-2) currently sit in third place in the south with five points.
