Bio

The Gutter RDP Athlete of the Week for October 30, 2023

Noah Carlson and the Kings Volleyball squad have been tearing up the court early on this season. After just dropping one set against the Ambrose University Lions, they sit in second place in the South Division with a 5-0 record. Just four teams remain undefeated in the ACAC Men’s Volleyball division which includes the RDP Kings.

Carlson has been a vital piece of the puzzle early on in this season especially against a very determined Ambrose Lions team this past weekend. On Friday evening in Calgary, Carlson led the Kings with 16 kills, three service aces and two blocks in the straight victory over the Lions. He would follow this up with an impressive 14 kills, four blocks and seven digs in the 3-1 match victory over Ambrose University.

At the end of the weekend, the Sylvan Lake outside-hitter finished with a ridiculous +31 plus/minus. Both Ambrose and RDP were going to award Carlson for his effort with the player of the match but Head Coach Aaron Schulha asked each game day attendant to change their pick so they could spread it around a bit with Carlson already winning a couple of these awards this season.

The fourth-year student-athlete is currently averaging three kills per set and hitting for an average of .558 which is currently the highest in the ACAC in the first three weeks of action.

Carlson and the Kings will be on the road this weekend. They will be making stops at Northwestern Polytechnic in Grande Prairie to take on the Wolves followed by a stop in Edmonton to battle with the NAIT Ooks on Saturday. Both games will start at 8 pm.

Congratulations Noah and keep putting up those impressive numbers!

Mr. Mikes RDP Athlete of the Week for January 16, 2023

In his debut weekend repping the Kings jersey, six-foot-six Noah Carlson is awarded the Kings Athlete of the Week. Traditionally an outside-hitter, Carlson started his weekend in the middle position against the Concordia University Thunder, where he finished with five kills on the night. But was later moved to the right-side against The Kings University Eagles on Saturday night where he made his presence known and established himself as an athlete to watch out for the upcoming matches. He finished the night with an outstanding 20 kills to help his team to a 3-1 match victory over the Eagles enroute to being named the player of the game.

Head Coach Aaron Schulha explained adding Noah Carlson this semester was just going to make his team even better and more competitive but also having a bigger net presence. He is a threat coming out of the back row as he has a very high reach. Schulha added that with this addition, he has a good problem to have in that he has multiple weapons, and each player will now have to work even harder to earn that starting position.

Congratulations Noah and keep on killing that ball!
