Athlete of the Week for Nov. 14. 2017
At the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross-Country Running National Championships, Jordanna Cota (22:10.5) ran a personal best and individually earned fourth spot on the 6 kilometre course in Quebec. The Bachelor of Science Nursing student also helped lead the RDC Queens to a fourth place finish. The Queens were only 6 team points behind UBC-Okanagan for the bronze medal. The fifth-year student athlete has been one of the leaders for the Red Deer College Cross-Country Running team all season.

Athlete of the Week for Oct. 30, 2017
Jordanna Cota had an excellent performance at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Cross-Country Running Championships. Jordanna (24:13.03) continued to dominate the field of ACAC female runners and earned individual gold along with team gold. The Bachelor of Science (Nursing) student was named the ACAC Female Cross-Country Runner of the Year and a member of the ACAC Women’s Cross-Country Running All-Conference team. The fifth-year student-athlete has remarkably earned first place in every ACAC competition that she has competed in this season. Jordanna, along with the RDC Queens, will compete at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Cross-Country Running National Championships in Blainville, Quebec on November 11, 2017.

Athlete of the Week for Oct. 16, 2017
At Grand Prix #5 in Camrose, Jordanna put forth another excellent effort. The Bachelor of Science (Nursing) student once again finished in 1st place among ACAC female runners and helped lead the RDC Queens to a 2nd place team finish. Jordanna impressively eclipsed the 24 minute mark and finished the 6 km course in 23:42, which was 36 seconds faster than 2nd place. Jordanna has remarkably placed 1st in all 3 of the ACAC cross-country competitions that she has raced in this season.

Athlete of the Week for Sept. 11, 2017
Jordanna Cota had an excellent race to begin the 2017-2018 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Cross-Country Running season. In Edmonton, the Bachelor of Science (Nursing) student finished the 6 kilometre course in 1st place (25:20) at Grand Prix #1, nearly 1 minute ahead of 2nd spot (26:19). Cota, from Red Deer, was a leader for the Queens this past weekend and helped her team to a 1st place finish. The RDC women’s team earned a total of 19 points.

Athlete of the Week for Nov. 14, 2016
This past weekend Jordanna Cota finished 6th overall, out of 115 entrants, at the 2016 CCAA Women’s Cross-Country Running National Championship with a time of 19:21 on the 5 km course. With the top 10 finish, she was named to the 2016 CCAA Women’s Cross-Country Running All Canadian team and helped lead the Red Deer College Women’s Cross-Country Running team to a silver medal in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Athlete of the Week for Oct. 31, 2016
Jordanna Cota helped lead the RDC Women’s Cross-Country Running team to a 1st place finish at the ACAC Cross-Country Running Championship in Grande Prairie Oct. 29. With the 1st place finish the RDC Women’s Running team qualifies for the CCAA Cross-Country Running National Championship in Sault Ste. Marie Nov. 11 and 12. Individually Jordanna placed 2nd with a time of 20:25 on the 5 km course and was also named to the ACAC Women’s Cross-Country All-Conference team.
