Calgary - After only one goal separated the Red Deer College Queens and SAIT Trojans in the opening half, the Trojans capitalized on some mistakes and added four more goals in the second half to pick up a 5 - 0 win on their home pitch.

In the 5th minute, Skye Gordon gave her Trojans a 1 - 0 edge and that slim margin held up until early in the latter half. In the 46th minute, Rachelle LaBranche gave SAIT a two goal cushion. Sage Meyers, Maddie Lee and Mataya Blakney contributed goals for the Trojans' cause over the final 30 minutes for the win. The Trojans outshot the Queens 25 - 10 over 90 minutes, and are the highest scoring team in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women's Soccer South Division. Over four games, the SAIT Trojans have found the back of the net 26 times (6.5 goals per game). The Red Deer College Queens have the second most potent offence in the south with seven goals in three games (2.3 goals per game).

After a well-played opening 45 minutes, Queens Soccer Head Coach Esad Elkaz identified several errors were just too costly against a talented team like the Trojans in the final half. "It was tough game. The first half was very competitive - we created chances and were only down 1 - 0," says Elkaz. "In the second half, we made too many mistakes in the midfield and back. We will look to improve this week and work on those areas so it doesn't happen again."

Several Queens tried to generate scoring opportunities against the first place club. Kayla Yeo, a Bachelor of Kinesiology student from Calgary, and Haley Nassichuk-Dean, a Bachelor of Science student from Crossfield, took three shots each, and Mikayla Fujimoto had a pair of attempts at Amy Offredi and the Trojans' net. Queens goalkeeper, Erin Gill from Red Deer, was busy and made 14 saves.

The Queens (2 - 1 - 0) sit in third spot in the ACAC Women's Soccer South Division with six points, but have played one fewer game than the first place SAIT Trojans (4 - 0 - 0) and second seeded Olds College Broncos (2- 1 - 1).

Next weekend, the RDC Queens (2 - 1 - 0) will look to rebound when they play a pair of games on their home field. The Medicine Hat College Rattlers (0 - 2 -2) will visit the RDC Main Field, Saturday, September 22, at 12:00 p.m. Twenty-four hours later, the Red Deer College Queens will entertain the Lethbridge College Kodiaks (0 - 1 - 2).
