In Calgary, the Red Deer College Kings Volleyball team faced the Ambrose University Lions. The first set was the closest that the Lions would come and the Kings swept them in 3 straight sets.

The RDC Kings opened with a 25-23 win in the first set. As a team, RDC finished with 14 kills. Taking the second set 25-16, the Kings went up 2 sets to 0 and accumulated another 10 kills. Winning the third set 25-17, the Kings won the match and added another 12 kills as a team.

Kings Head Coach Aaron Schulha thought his team improved as the match progressed.

"Ambrose came out quickly serving well and making some solid transition plays," said Schulha. "We were able to weather the storm and snuck out the first set. After that we played a fairly clean match with a quality serve and pass game and a dynamic offence that gave the Lions trouble."

Regan Fathers was named the Kings player-of-the-game and ended up with 14 kills, 2 blocks and 4 digs.

Libero Michael Sumner received praise from his coach.

"Michael also had an outstanding match," said Schulha. "He had 7 digs and 2 assists while passing a 2.76 average."

Looking at the weekend rematch, the Kings want to improve in one area.

"We just need to tighten up our blocking on Saturday," said Schulha. "If we do that, I think we will be in good shape."

With the victory, the Kings move to 9-2 on the season and remain in first place in the ACAC Men's Volleyball South Division. Saturday, Nov. 19 the RDC Kings host the Ambrose University Lions at the RDC Gym at 8:00 p.m.
