After day one at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Golf North Regionals in Camrose, the Red Deer College Queens and Kings both sat in 2nd place.

Shaye Leidenius had a good day at the Camrose Golf & Country Club and shot an opening round of 82, only 1 stroke behind the leader Hailey Turcotte of MacEwan University. After opening with 3 bogeys, Leidenius parred the next 2 holes and picked up a birdie on the front 9. On the back 9, the Kinesiology and Sport Studies student, earned 4 more pars and another birdie. Bradie Ouellette-Pillman shot a 95 and Paige Tichkowsky finished the day with a 101.

Cole Morrison led the way for the RDC Kings with an opening round of 74 which placed the 3rd year student-athlete in a tie for 2nd spot with Justin Berget of MacEwan University. Noah Lubberding, from MacEwan University, sat in top spot with a 70. Morrison picked up 4 pars and 3 birdies on the front 9. The student-athlete from Red Deer added another 5 pars and 1 birdie on the back 9. Newcomers, Justin Loro and Clayton Dunn shared 7th place after shooting a 77 on day one. Logan Hill was 4 strokes behind his teammates with an 81 and sat in a tie for 18th.

RDC Golf Head Coach Scott Bergdahl thought it was a decent day but knows that the team can improve. "The golfers are really excited about tomorrow. Our men had a really good front 9 but were inconsistent on the back 9," said Bergdahl. "On a poor hole, the golfers felt that they had to make it up right away. It's important for us to be patient and play our game. We have some work to do tomorrow and I know we can be better."

The final day of the ACAC Golf North Regionals will continue on Sunday in Camrose.
