Leidenius and Morrison finish 2nd

Day two at Raven Crest Golf & Country Club is in the books. The Red Deer College Golf team entered the final day with the men sitting in 2nd place as a team while the women were in 3rd place. Both the men and women managed to hang on to those places after the final day.

Cole Morrison had another strong day, shooting a 71 for a two day total of 146. This put him in 2nd place, only 1 stroke behind men's leader Barrett Belland of Grant MacEwan University. Ryan Skoreyko and Alex White both shot a 74 today for a total of 156, which put them in a tie for 9th. After two days Cody Clipperton finished tied for 20th, Mitchell McKinnon finished tied for 24th, Colton Craner finished 28th and Logan Crawford tied for 32nd.

Shooting a 77 on day two placed Shaye Leidenius 2nd overall. Leidenius had a two day total of 158 which was 8 strokes behind the women's leader Becky Martin of Medicine Hat College. Hayley Phillips place 11th overall.

Head Coach Scott Bergdahl was pleased how the team showed persistence.

"After a tough first day, I am extremely proud of how both the men's and women's teams dug deep," said Bergdahl. "They found a way to post great individual and team scores."

The strong personal and team results bring confidence to the Red Deer College Golf team as they head into the ACAC Golf Championship weekend.

From Sept. 30 Oct. 2 the RDC Golf team will compete in the ACAC Golf Championship at the Lac La Biche Golf & Country Club, hosted by Portage College.
