After day one RDC golfers Leidenius and Morrison sit in 2nd

The Red Deer College Golf team were looking to build upon their strong results from last weekend as they entered day one at the Raven Crest Golf & Country Club in Edmonton. RDC golfers Cole Morrison and Shaye Leidenius sit in 2nd place after the 1st round.

Cole Morrison shot a 75 in his 1st round of golf Saturday, two shots behind the men's leader. Ryan SkoreykoAlex White, and Cody Clipperton shot an 82 which places them in a tie for 14th. Colton Craner sits in 23rd, Logan Crawford in 29th and Mitchell McKinnon is in 30th place.

Shaye Leidenius had another strong day, shooting an 81 which was 4 strokes back of the women's leader. This put Leidenius in a tie for 2nd.

After day one Bachelor of Arts student Hayley Phillips sits in 12th place.

The RDC men are in 2nd place overall while the women captured 3rd place after the first day.

Head Coach Scott Bergdahl noted that the wind played a factor on day one.

"It was a fairly warm day, at 15 degrees," said Bergdahl. "We experienced at least 35 kilometer winds which made it extremely difficult."

Day two continues Sunday, Sept. 25 at the Raven Crest Golf & Country Club.
