Bio

Chris Wandler took over the head coach role for the Queens Volleyball program in the 2016-17 season. Last year the Queens had a 18-6 record in the regular season and finished with a ACAC Bronze for the second consecutive year. In his first season he led the Queens to a 21-3 record. Wandler, who is a teacher at Notre Dame High School since 2000, was the head coach of the Olds College Women’s Volleyball team from 2012-2016 and in only his 3rd year at Olds earned an ACAC bronze medal. He also has extensive experience coaching Team Alberta at the Western Canada Summer Games and the Canada Games which won gold in 2013. He has a strong history with Red Deer College, as he was an assistant coach with the Queens Volleyball team from 2003 - 2012, with Talbot Walton as his mentor during that time.

Wandler’s knowledge of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference, along with his previous experience at Red Deer College will provide a solid foundation of leadership for the Queens Volleyball players. His coaching philosophy of keeping high standards of recruiting good people on and off the court, in order to make better Queens, is the foundational piece that he believes will drive the program in the years to come. Wandler is originally from Cold Lake, Alberta and also spent time teaching in Beirut Lebanon from 1995-98.
