Bloemen and RDC Queens drop Rattlers in four

Medicine Hat, AB - The Red Deer College Queens jumped out to a two set lead and after the Medicine Hat College Rattlers took the third, the Queens rose to the occasion and salted away a four set road victory (25-19, 25-22, 20-25 and 25-23).

Queens' setter Natalie Bloemen did an effective job of diversifying the offensive attack. Emma Holmes pounded 13 kills while adding six digs and two stuff blocks. Both McKenna Olson and Alexandria Greenshields had 10 kills each and Britt Davis recorded nine.

Natalie Bloemen received the Queens Player-of-the-Game award, contributing 38 assists, seven digs and two aces.

Molly Marie was chosen for the Rattlers, totaling five assists, one ace and one dig. 

Libero Kaylee Domoney played a key role in the win, providing Bloemen with an accurate pass. The Business Administration student from Red Deer accumulated 26 digs and two assists.

With the victory, the fourth place Queens move four points up on the Rattlers and only trail the third seed Ambrose University Lions (12-7) by two points in the south.

On Saturday at 1:00 p.m., the Queens (11-8) will face the Rattlers (9-10) in Medicine Hat.
