Bloemen and Queens sweep Broncos for ninth win in past ten

Olds, AB - The Red Deer College Queens continue to trend up. In back-to-back sweeps, the Queens earned a Sunday road victory over the Olds College Broncos (25-20, 25-16 and 25-16).

Setter Natalie Bloemen connected with a variety of targets. Katrina Dawe, a Kinesiology student, was the Queens' most effective offensive weapon, accumulating 13 kills, six digs and one ace while hitting for 48 per cent efficiency.  Britt Davis recorded nine kills and seven digs. Libero Kaylee Domoney had nine digs and four assists.

Natalie Bloemen, from Edmonton, was selected as the Queens Player-of-the-Game, finishing with 31 assists, three digs, one kill and one stuff block.

Karley Dieken received recognition for her strong play for Olds, totaling six kills, five digs and one stuff block. 

The third place Queens (10-6) recorded their fifth consecutive win and haven taken nine of their last ten matches.

Next weekend, the RDC Queens will be put to the test as they host the first place Briercrest College Clippers (12-2) at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre. On Friday, January 18, the two teams will compete at 6:00 p.m., and then on Saturday afternoon the two south division rivals will meet at 1:00 p.m.
