The RDC Volleyball Queens were on a five match winning streak prior to the break, and that momentum continued in Olds against the Broncos Friday evening. The Red Deer College Queens took control early, kept their foot on the gas and they defeated the Olds College Broncos in three straight sets 25-15, 25-18 and 25-14.

McKenna Barthel was one of many offensive weapons for RDC and the Business Administration Human Resources student finished with 12 kills, 1 assist, 4 digs and 1 stuff block. Outside hitter Miranda Dawe contributed 6 kills, 3 digs and 1 stuff block. Katrina Dawe totaled 8 kills, 3 service aces, 10 digs and 5 stuff blocks. Setter Chanelle Kayser stacked up 20 assists, 4 service aces, 6 digs and 1 stuff block. As a team, the Queens had 7 service aces.

Megan Gleddie led the Broncos with 5 kills.

Queens Volleyball Head Coach Chris Wandler appreciated the focus and consistency. "Overall, I thought that we were quite solid tonight," said Wandler. "From the first point to the last rally we kept ourselves engaged by trying to execute on every opportunity."

The RDC Queens spent some of the holidays varying their offensive attack. "We did a lot of work during the break working on the diversity of our offence which will benefit us in the long run," said Wandler. "On Saturday, we will need to continue to execute in the areas that we worked on during the break."

The Red Deer College Queens (10-3) will face the Olds College Broncos (0-15) Saturday at 6:00 p.m. on the road. The Queens sit in second spot in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Women's Volleyball South Division with 20 points and extended their winning streak to 6 matches.
