Friday, the RDC Queens had a great start to their match but momentum shifted to the Briercrest College Clippers, and RDC couldn't close it out. In a Saturday afternoon rematch, the RDC Queens opened with energy and applied consistent pressure throughout the match as they cruised to a 3 set victory over the Clippers.

The Queens had a fantastic opening set and won 25-16. RDC took the second set 25-20 and capped off the match with a 25-14 third set victory.

Queens Volleyball Head Coach Chris Wandler thought the team was better prepared today. "Confidence is about being prepared and knowing that you can execute a given scenerio at any time. We had more preparedness before they served the ball and that translated into better play," said Wandler. "We didn't let them get on runs. We stuck to what we needed to do, which was executing the next play and not dwelling on what happened before. It was a way better job today."

The Queens jumped on the Clippers' mistakes. "We took advantage of their errors and we served consistently. Constant pressure results in good things," said Wandler. "We have to emphasize this heading into next weekend by focusing on us and our execution."

Miranda Dawe was named the Queens player-of-the-game. The Kinesiology & Sport Studies student accumulated 12 kills, 1 service ace and 1 dig. As a team, the RDC Queens stacked up 33 kills, 27 assists, 1 service ace, 8 digs and 1 stuff block.

Wandler was happy with the play from the fifth-year student-athlete. "Miranda did a better job of communicating this afternoon which allowed her to focus on the positive side," said Wandler. "She did what she needed to do today and gave support to her teammates."

The RDC Queens (1-1) will play the Olds College Broncos (0-1) on Friday, October 20 at 6:00 p.m. at RDC.
