In the second half of the home-and-home series against the Olds College Broncos, the Red Deer College Queens Volleyball team looked to carry over their strong play from Friday evening. Saturday, the venue shifted to Olds College and the RDC Queens continued where they left off.

The Queens won the opening set 25-12.

In even more convincing fashion RDC took the second set 25-10.

Olds College had their largest push back in the third set, but it wasn't enough as the Queens won 25-18 to once again sweep the Broncos in back-to-back matches.

Queens Head Coach Chris Wandler was satisfied with another strong showing on the court.

"Our play tonight was solid once again. We continued the momentum that we established on Friday," said Wandler. "I thought we did a good job of picking up their speed and we adjusted nicely to their offence. Every student-athlete got some playing time in the match which is important moving forward. Things are moving in the right direction."

Jamie Craig accumulated 12 assists and 4 digs for the Olds College Broncos.

Miranda Dawe was chosen as the Queens player-of-the-game. The Grande Prairie native finished with 10 kills, 1 service ace, 2 assists and 6 digs. For RDC, Ashley Fehr contributed 25 assists, 1 kill, 2 digs and 3 service aces. As a team, the Red Deer College Queens totalled 33 kills, 28 assists, 7 service aces and 14 digs.

With the victory, the RDC Queens move into a tie for first place in the ACAC Women's Volleyball South Division with the SAIT Trojans and Briercrest College Clippers. All 3 teams have 22 points.

The Queens next play at Ambrose University Friday, Jan. 13 at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, the same two squads hit the court at RDC at 6:00 p.m.
