Clippers over Queens in Saskatchewan

Clippers over Queens in Saskatchewan

In a weekend rematch the Red Deer College Queens Volleyball team faced the Briercrest Clippers Saturday afternoon. The Queens opened strongly and then the Clippers won three sets in a row to take the match 3 sets to 1.

RDC won the first set 25-17. Briercrest College then won the next 3 sets 25-18, 25-21 and 25-16.

Queens Head Coach Chris Wandler thought that there were some missed chances today.

"We had opportunities in the third set when we were up 15-13 and let them get on a 5-1 run," said Wandler. "We let off and couldn't recover from the momentum they built and that let to a disappointing fourth set."

Wandler is focussed on a few areas in the near future.

"Moving forward this week we need to get back to our fundamentals of passing and serving," said Wandler. "There will be a focus on winning several points in a row so that we can play with some pressure."

Jade Van Dyke was named the Queens player-of-the-game. The student-athlete from Cochrane finished with 6 kills, 2 service aces and 5 digs. As a team, the RDC Queens accumulated 34 kills, 3 service aces and 43 digs.

The Red Deer College Queens sit in second place in the ACAC Women's Volleyball South Division standings with a 5-3 record. The Queens host the Olds College Broncos at the RDC Main Gym Friday, Nov. 11 at 6:00 p.m.
