Fujimoto and Soccer Queens continue to roll, down Vikings in Camrose

Camrose, AB - The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Soccer team's offence remained on a hot streak against the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings Saturday afternoon. 

Leading 4-1 at the half, the RDP Queens added another four goals in the final 45 minutes, earning an important 8-1 victory in Camrose.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens set the tone early when Sofia Quinteros put one past Vikings goalkeeper Sofia Ovcharenko in the second minute. 

Corbynn Fujimoto, a Bachelor of Commerce student, led the way offensively for the Queens with a hat trick. Captain Alisha Coules and first-year Sofia Quinteros, both Bachelor of Science Nursing students, contributed a pair of goals each. Paige Kalbfleisch rounded out the scoring for Red Deer Polytechnic in the 80th minute.

Anna Goulard was the only member of the Vikings who put one past RDP Queens goalkeeper Danyelle Bouvier. Goulard, who is a second-year forward, reduced Red Deer Polytechnic's margin to 2-1 in the 21st minute.

Lac La Biche's Danyelle Bouvier made four saves. Ovcharenko stopped 20 shots.

Over the past two games, the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens have outscored their opponents 30-1. After dropping their opening match to the Lethbridge College Kodiaks, the Queens have rattled off three consecutive wins.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens (3-1-0) will host the undefeated SAIT Trojans (3-0-0) on Friday, October 8 at 2 pm. Then one final regular season contest remains against the Medicine Hat College Rattlers (3-1-0) on the road. 

The RDP Queens are part of a log jam at the top of the ACAC Women's Soccer South Division standings. The Queens, Lethbridge College Kodiaks (3-1-0), SAIT Trojans (3-0-0), and Medicine Hat College Rattlers (3-1-0) have nine points each.

The top six teams in each division will make the playoffs.
