Rodney and Broncos take home decision over Queens

Olds, AB - Olds College Broncos second-year forward Felicia Rodney was on a roll Sunday afternoon against the visiting Red Deer College Queens Soccer team. The Sports Management student tied an Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) record, striking seven times. The Broncos picked up an 8-1 win.

In the opening half, Calgary's Rodney scored six consecutive goals, beginning in the 21st minute and wrapping up that streak just before the half.

Nine minutes into the second half, the RDC Queens got on the board. Bachelor of Education Elementary student Bailey Richarde beat Broncos goalkeeper Jewels Hallock with a long shot.

Then Katharina Oeltermann and Rodney tacked on two more for the home team in the 66th and 76th minute and the Olds College Broncos finalized an 8-1 win. 

Queens Alethea Riemer and Riley DeRaaf shared the duties in net. Broncos Hallock made four saves.

RDC Bachelor of Arts student Bronwyn Pfeifle was recognized as the Queens top performer. Rodney received the award for Olds College.

 

The RDC Queens (4-5-0) will look to rebound against the SAIT Trojans (4-3-2) in Calgary on Wednesday, October 16 at 3:30 p.m. After that contest, two games remain at home against the Lethbridge College Kodiaks (6-1-2) and Medicine Hat College Rattlers (4-3-3).
