Nassichuk-Dean leads dominant performance over Rattlers

Medicine Hat, AB - The RDC Queens Soccer team has some momentum as they look towards next weekend's playoffs. After the Medicine Hat College Rattlers struck early, the Queens responded in spades, connecting for 9 consecutive goals and earning a dominant 9 - 1 road victory in their final regular season game.
In the 3rd minute, Victoria Dalziel opened the scoring for her Rattlers. Then, Hayley Nassichuk-Dean and the Queens took over with five first-half goals. Nassichuk-Dean scored a natural hat trick in the 5th, 6th and 27th minute. Taylor Pankiw added to the RDC Queens' lead with a pair of goals in the 34th and 39th minute, propelling her team to a 5 - 1 margin after 45 minutes.
In the second half, the Queens continued to control the play. Nassichuk-Dean added another pair of goals in the 55th and 61st minute. The Queens were credited with a team goal in the 59th minute and Kayla Yeo rounded out the scoring in the 72nd minute for a remarkable 9 - 1 win.
The Queens directed 39 shots towards goalkeeper Kassidy Sublerlak. Both Erin Gill and Alethea Riemer shared time in goal for the Queens. Gill made three saves and Riemer didn't have any shots to contend with.
Queens Soccer Head Coach Esad Elkaz was impressed with his team's performance after finding themselves down by a goal early. "It was a dominant performance today from the Queens. After the Rattlers scored off their first corner kick it really sparked us," he says. "We dominated possession, corner kicks and passing. There was opportunity to give other student-athletes some playing time, and they did everything right."
As the Queens prepare for the playoffs, the convincing win provides confidence as they look forward to the quarter-finals on Friday, October 26 at 2:00 p.m. "It is nice to finish the season like this," says Elkaz. "It is great and will give us that extra boost."
The Red Deer College Queens finished with an 8 - 2 - 2 record (26 points) and second spot in the south.
Hayley Nassichuk-Dean was named the Queens Player-of-the-Game.
