Flynn and Mollin each pick up a goal and an assist in win over the Broncos

Olds, November 23, 2023 – Bachelor of Science in Nursing student-athletes Kaedence Mollin and forward Molly Flynn each finished with two points the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens road victory over the Olds College Broncos on Thursday night.

Following an early goaltender change for the Broncos, Mollin would open the scoring and would follow this up with an assist on the goal by forward Rylee Mepham (Bachelor of Education) which ended up being the game-winner. Mollin was named the player of the game following the 4-1 victory.

Despite going into the second period with the lead, the Queens were outshot 10-6 with goaltender Izzy Palumbo (Bachelor of Business Administration) putting on an impressive performance in her second consecutive start. Palumbo stopped 26 of 27 shots for her sixth win of the season. She has allowed just 10 goals in eight games.

The Broncos would finally cut into the Queens lead in the second which was the only goal of the period.

In the final 20 minutes, the Queens ran away with it as they scored two goals on 13 shots with defence Jessica Bouffard (Business Diploma) going unassisted and forward Arilyn Toews (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) setting up Flynn for her second point of the game.

These two teams will rematch on Friday evening in Red Deer for their last regular season game of the 2023 calendar year. The puck will drop at 7 pm.
