Calgary, AB – It was a defensive battle that featured strong goaltending from both teams and the Red Deer College Queens were shaded 2-1 in double overtime by the SAIT Trojans, in a rare Saturday afternoon contest.

After 23 minutes and 22 seconds of perfect netminding, Jenessa Fournier broke the deadlock in the second period, giving the Queens a one goal margin. Victoria Johnston and Neisha Germann set up Fournier's second goal and eighth point of the season.

The lead lasted until 13:48 of the third period. SAIT's Brittany MacDonald finally solved Miranda Cook, knotting the game 1-1.

After 65 minutes of even hockey, the Trojans' Kelsey Patterson scored high on the blocker side during three-on-three action, at 3:25 of double overtime. The Trojans picked up a 2-1 home decision and the RDC Queens earned three of a possible four points in the standings, after the two-game series.

Jenessa Fournier was named the Queens Player-of-the-Game. Elisha Oswald received the award for the Trojans, stopping 38 out of 39 shots.

Miranda Cook was solid in RDC's net, making 38 saves on 40 SAIT attempts (0.950).

The third place Queens (10-9-5-0) have wrapped up the regular season but several teams have games remaining. The last ACAC regular season games will be played on Saturday, February 23, and then the official playoff schedule will be released. The top four teams will make the postseason. The fourth place Olds College Broncos and fifth place SAIT Trojans cannot pass the Queens in the standings.
