Calgary, AB - On the strength of a hat trick from Kaely McMurtry and a 23 save performance from Karlee Fetch, the RDC Queens rolled into Calgary and downed the SAIT Trojans 3-1.

Only 1:40 into the first period, Kaely McMurtry beat Elisha Oswald to give her Queens an early lead. Veronika Bucifalova and Camryn Wallan had the assists. Just over seven minutes later, Ashley Sutherland set up McMurtry's second of the game.

McMurtry struck quickly in the second period. At 1:25, the Bachelor of Education Middle School student fired one past Oswald, recording a hat trick and providing the Queens a 3-0 lead. Veronika Bucifalova picked up the lone assist, her second of the contest.

With only 1:01 remaining in the third, Shea Dolan ended Fetch's shutout bid and pulled the Trojans within a pair. That would be as close as the Trojans would get, and the RDC Queens finalized a 3-1 road decision.

Kelly Coulter, Queens Head Coach, appreciated McMurty's effort and drive around Oswald. "Kaely McMurtry had a good night and was around the net all night," he says. "Her first two goals were direct results of being at the net."

Two other Queens were commended for their solid efforts. "Jessi-Lynn Sumaling and Jenessa Fournier had strong games and both put a lot of pressure on the puck, creating turnovers which created scoring chances," says Coulter.

The Queens outshot the Trojans 28-24. Karlee Fetch played well and made 23 saves on 24 shots in the win (0.958).

On Saturday, November 10, the Red Deer College Queens (3-4) will entertain the SAIT Trojans (1-8) at 7:00 p.m. at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.
