Friday in Lethbridge, the Queens had several student-athletes return to the lineup from injuries and it seemed to spark the RDC Queens early. But a strong second half by the Kodiaks sealed a win for the home team. The Queens kept the first half within a point but the Kodiaks finished strongly and picked up a 69-45 home win.

After two quarters of play, the Kodiaks held a slight 27-26 edge. Emily White returned from injury and while her minutes were being monitored, the Management Certificate student contributed 7 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Shayna Mathison had 7 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds for the Kodiaks at the half.

The Kodiaks outscored the Queens 42-19 in the second half and won 69-45. In the last two quarters, Paige Schultz stacked up 5 points, 3 assists, 1 rebound and 1 steal for the Queens. Matlin McMurray accumulated 9 points and 1 rebound for Lethbridge College.

Paige Schultz led the RDC Queens with 10 points. The Kinesiology & Sport Studies student from Saskatoon added 4 steals, 5 assists and 2 rebounds. Amy Arbon was the leading scorer for the Kodiaks with 12 points. As a team, the Queens shot 32.8% from the field and totaled 29 rebounds. The Kodiaks were effective in the paint and scored 18 points from in close.

Queens Head Coach Ken King wasn't pleased with the effort and compete level over four quarters. "All around we didn't play up to our full potential. We had four student-athletes back playing after being out with injuries and it may take a bit for them to feel comfortable again in game situations," said King. "Emily White was back playing, but we kept her to limited minutes, to protect her health." White, from Horsens, Denmark, played 11 minutes.

King wants to see a more consistent effort in the rematch. "On Saturday we want to have a higher compete level," said King.

The RDC Queens (2-6) will hit the court to face the Kodiaks (4-4) Saturday, January 13 at 1:00 p.m. in Lethbridge.
